decorating for the holidays...

I think by now everyone probably has a Christmas tree up but us. I confess that our's still rests in it's box in our cellar. A sad state of affairs indeed. Since our place here is in a state of transition it is tough to get into the Christmas spirit (I guess we could always wrap all our moving boxes to have them look like some giant Christmas gifts, that would be a neat christmassy solution).

No tree or tree decoration this year also means not having to chase our cat away from it all the time either. That makes life a little more mellow around here and less nervwrecking, true.

To be in a phase of transition, being between places is a tough one to be in. We are counting the days til the big day comes at the end of January that we will finally be in our house. Next year's Christmas will be fantastic that much I do know. For this year's Christmas we decided not to decorate and made our peace with it. Our cat seems to be allright with it as well, so is our ferret and are our three guinea pigs.

Christmas for us will be when we set foot into our house for the first time. Christmas will also be when we unpack all the little neat things we bought for the house and collected over the last couple of months, stashing (I call it hamstering) them away. And then I will be in the mood to decorate, maybe not for Christmas anymore but for our new home.
Our cat found his own little Christmas home for now in a paper bag we brought from a store the other day. It has bright colours and a giant snowflake on it. It's his new favourite spot to hang out in. Now this is the spirit.
